Bank Austria
Visit to Austria's biggest bank, active in 19 CEE countries, with a special "International Community" department
The day started with hot coffee, pastries, and a warm welcome by Mag. Helmut Bernkopf, Head of Corporate & Investment Banking, Bank Austria. Then Mag. Gerhard Smoley, Head of Strategic Analysis & CBBM, Bank Austria, gave the trade delegates an overview of Bank Austria?s business activity and the structure of the parent company, UniCredit Group.
Diversity - the secret of success
The bank's key focus is on taking care of its customers in Austria and 19 CEE-countries (with 3.800 branch offices and 71.000 employees); and its secret of success is its diversity, Mag. Smoley stated. The bank' diversity relates to its main shareholders, lines of business, and also to its employees.
17 different languages are spoken in Bank Austria's "International Community" department, led by Mag. Shahrzad Banihashemi, who explained to the trade delegates which kinds of service she and her team offer to international business (and private) customers, diplomatic missions, international organizations, and expatriate individuals: flexible products tailored to customer needs, with a high level of multicultural and social relevance.
Moreover, Bank Austria has, of late, proved to be the financially soundest bank in Austria ? not needing to take advantage of any government assistance measures offered during the recent financial crisis. With about 59.500 employees in 3000 branch offices in Austria, the bank takes care of 1,8 million customers in Austria: 9 out of 10 large scale enterprises (with more than EUR 250M turnover) work together with Bank Austria.
Find your funding
Dr. Hans Wallowitsch (Export & Investment Promotion Finance, Bank Austria) gave an overview of funding assistance opportunities for companies in Austria. These are often connected with assistance programmes of Austrian promotion agencies like FFG or Austria Wirtschaftsservice (aws). Especially for small and medium enterprises, there are a lot of funding assistance possibilities, e.g. relating to the use of renewable energy and the implementation of R&D programmes. Bank Austria even offers a "Förderfinder"(funding finder) service on it's website www.bankaustria.at / Firmenkunden.
