Visit of PHARMIG - the Association of the Austrian Pharmaceutical Industry

PHARMIG - the Association of the Austrian Pharmaceutical Industry - is a voluntary and politically independent representation of interests of the pharmaceutical industry in Austria.

Our second activity in the year 2023 was a visit to PHARMIG on February 28, 2028. A great number of 24 members of CdH participated in this very informative event. PHARMIG - the Association of the Austrian Pharmaceutical Industry - is a voluntary and politically independent representation of interests of the pharmaceutical industry in Austria.

PHARMIG represents about 120 member companies with approximately 18,000 employees in total. These companies make up more than 95 per cent of the Austrian medicinal product market. PHARMIG and its member companies are committed to secure the supply of medicinal products in the health care system to the best effect. Through quality and innovation PHARMIG and its member companies ensure both social and medical progress.

Mr. Alexander Herzog, PHARMIG Secretary General, gave a short insight of the pharmaceutical industry in Austria as well as the functioning of a modern industry association. After a brief analysis of the political winds in Austria, he pointed out some of the topics currently moving the pharmaceutical industry at national level and spoke about drug shortages Austria was faced with.

Ms. Claudia Obernhuber, PHARMIG Senior Manager Strategic and International Projects, highlighted a selection of the pharma-relevant developments at both the European and global level (e.g. Revision of the EU pharma legislation, WTO TRIPS-waiver discussion) and informed how those topics are addressed at national level.
